Clarke DUI Court Selected as Training Site
On Friday, February 29, 2008, the Clarke County DUI Court was designated as one of four national ³Academy Courts² by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Drug Court Institute. Judge Kent Lawrence, State Court of Clarke County, implemented the first DUI Court in Georgia in 2001.
On hand for the press conference at the State Capitol in Atlanta were Judge Lawrence; Justice P. Harris Hines, Supreme Court of Georgia; other members of the judiciary; Mr. West Huddleston, Executive Director, National Drug Court Institute; law enforcement and drug court personnel from Clarke County; staff of the Administrative Office of the Courts; and a drug court graduate who told his story to the assembled crowd.

Liberian Judges Attend Court Reporting Demonstration
A delegation of judges from the African nation of Liberia visited the Atlanta offices of the AOC on March 3, 2008. Board of Court Reporting members Ms. Marilyn Roe and Ms. Kerry McFadden demonstrated the use of a real-time stenograph machine for Associate Justice Kabineh M. Ja¹neh, Supreme Court of Liberia; Circuit Judge J. Boima Kontoe, and Councillor Oswald Tweh, President, Liberian National Bar Association.
Justice Harold Melton, Supreme Court of Georgia, met with the Liberian delegation briefly and conducted a tour of the Supreme Court courtroom.
