You can obtain an emergency judicial permit for one year by having a judge sponsor you. Please call our office so staff can send you the correct forms.
What schools offer court reporter training?
You may contact the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA) at 601-582-4345 for a list of schools offering training in the method of a voice write, or you may contact the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) at 703-556-6272 for a list of schools offering training in the method of machine shorthand.

How do I file a complaint against a court reporter?
Please review the Grievance Procedures found in the “Rules and Regulations” of the 2009 Georgia Certified Court Reporters’ Resource Guide. Additional information may be found at www.georgiacourts.gov/agencies/bcr. Click, “Certification.” Then select, “Grievance Procedure.” There you shall find the Complaint Form and other details on filing a grievance.

If I do court reporting work in Georgia but live in another state do I need to be certified?
Yes, all persons practicing court reporting in Georgia must be certified.
Where can I find out about continuing education classes
Contact ICJE at www.uga.edu/icje. Select, “Court Reporters” for a list of preapproved classes and other information on continuing education training. You are encouraged to frequently check the “Classes and Seminars” list as preapproved approved courses are added throughout the year. Where do I turn in my continuing education credits?
